“The triumph can’t be had without the struggle.” – Wilma Rudolph

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

My name is Nneka Symister, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over two decades of experience in social services, with the last decade dedicated specifically to private practice. Throughout my professional journey in New York, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations, ranging from street homeless individuals to dual-diagnosed individuals, teenage mothers, fathers, and children in foster care.

My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in client-centered care. I believe that each of us possesses the innate ability to shape our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with others. We not only have the power to envision the life we desire but also to define the person we aspire to be.

As a clinician, I specialize in supporting clients through perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, grief and loss, relationship issues, and various life stressors. My methods draw from a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, stress management techniques, and meditation.

I firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, learn new skills, break generational patterns, and become the person they aspire to be. If you’re ready to embark on the journey of self-discovery and transformation, I invite you to contact me for a consultation today. Together, we can explore the path towards a more fulfilling and empowered life.
